Exosome Therapy

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles — typically 30-150 nanometres in diameter — secreted by cells as part of their normal signalling processes. In regenerative medicine, exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells are of particular interest because they carry a cargo of growth factors, cytokines, mRNA, and microRNA that can influence the behaviour of recipient cells without the complexities and regulatory challenges of transplanting live stem cells.

When applied to the skin, exosomes may enhance fibroblast proliferation, stimulate collagen and elastin production, modulate inflammatory responses, and support the skin's natural repair mechanisms. The nano-scale size of exosomes allows them to penetrate the skin barrier more effectively than larger molecules, potentially delivering their bioactive cargo to deeper tissue layers.

Exosome therapy is a relatively newer addition to the aesthetic and regenerative medicine landscape. Published research has shown promising results in wound healing, skin rejuvenation, and hair restoration applications, though the field is evolving and standardisation of exosome preparations varies across providers.
