What's included
4 deliverables in this treatment
- Fasting blood glucose
- HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin)
- Fasting insulin (if included in panel)
- HOMA-IR insulin resistance index (if insulin included)
A test to help diagnose diabetes or prediabetes by monitoring glucose concentration levels. This is a fasting test.
About this treatment
Fasting Blood Glucose is a straightforward and widely used blood test to screen for diabetes, prediabetes, or gestational diabetes during pregnancy. A fasting blood glucose test measures the level of glucose in your blood at its lowest point, after you haven't eaten or drunk anything for 12 hours. Glucose is a form of sugar and serves as the primary energy source for your body. Insulin assists in transporting glucose from your bloodstream into your cells. An imbalance in blood glucose levels, whether too high or too low, can indicate a medical issue. Elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) may signal diabetes, a condition that can lead to long-term health problems if not treated.
Good to know
- Biomarkers
- 2–4 metabolic markers
- Fasting Required
- Yes, 10–12 hours for fasting glucose
- Sample Type
- Blood draw
- Turnaround
- Same day to 24 hours
- Common Use
- Diabetes screening, insulin resistance detection
Who is this for?
Adults over 35 as part of routine screening (diabetes affects 1 in 10 adults globally). Anyone with a family history of type 2 diabetes. People who are overweight or physically inactive. Those experiencing increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, or fatigue. Women with a history of gestational diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Preparation Required
A 12-hour fast is required. Water is permitted; avoid food, caffeine, and sugary drinks beforehand.

Biomarkers Tested
4If you have diabetes your body doesn't process glucose effectively.
Blood sugar — the body's primary energy source. Fasting glucose screens for diabetes and prediabetes. Chronically elevated glucose damages blood vessels and organs. Levels fluctuate with meals, stress, and physical activity.
Reflects your average blood sugar over the past 2–3 months by measuring the percentage of hemoglobin with attached glucose. HbA1c is the gold standard for diagnosing and monitoring diabetes, unaffected by daily fluctuations.
The hormone produced by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar. Elevated fasting insulin — even with normal glucose — is an early marker of insulin resistance, which precedes type 2 diabetes by years. Key biomarker in longevity medicine.
