A magnetic-resonance scan of the shoulder that images the rotator-cuff tendons, the labrum, joint cartilage and surrounding muscles in detail without radiation. Scans use a new-generation General Electric Signa Creator 1.5 Tesla MRI and a Hitachi Eclos 16-slice CT scanner; an anaesthesiologist is available for sedation or general anaesthesia where a scan requires it.
