Type
MRI Scan
Duration
30 min
A magnetic-resonance scan of the brain that produces detailed cross-sectional images of brain tissue, the ventricles and surrounding structures without using radiation. At OMEGA the examination is performed on a new-generation 1.5 Tesla scanner and is commonly requested for headaches, dizziness, neurological symptoms or follow-up of previously known findings. The base price covers a non-contrast study; contrast can be added when clinically indicated. Most head scans take around 20 to 30 minutes, and a written radiologist report is provided afterwards, with a faster turnaround available on request.
Magnetic resonance imaging of the head uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves — not ionising radiation — to build high-resolution images of the brain and nearby structures. It is one of the most informative ways to look at soft tissue, which is why it is so often used when symptoms such as persistent headaches, dizziness, visual disturbance or other neurological complaints need to be investigated, or when an earlier finding is being monitored over time. At OMEGA the scan is carried out on a new-generation General Electric Signa Creator 1.5 Tesla system with a relatively wide, open bore that many patients find more comfortable than older machines. You lie still on a padded table that moves into the scanner, wearing supplied ear protection because the sequences are noisy. A standard head study generally takes about 20 to 30 minutes. In some cases the radiologist may advise an intravenous gadolinium contrast agent to characterise a finding more clearly; this is priced separately and a recent creatinine result may be requested first, which the centre can also arrange on site. The published 650 zł price is for a self-pay, non-contrast examination with fixed, transparent pricing and no referral required to book privately. After the scan a specialist radiologist reviews the images and prepares a written report, normally available within a few working days, with images supplied on CD; an expedited 48-hour report can be requested for an additional fee. This information is general and educational only and is not a substitute for advice from your own doctor, who can confirm whether the examination is appropriate for you.
