Chemical peels at Northwestern Medicine Aesthetics are performed using professional-strength formulations from three clinically validated skincare brands: PCA Skin, VI Peel, and SkinCeuticals — the same product lines used by academic dermatology and plastic surgery practices nationwide. This sets the service apart from spa chemical peels, which typically use lower-concentration acids with minimal penetration depth.

PCA Skin peels include a range of superficial to medium-depth formulations using combinations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), lactic acid, kojic acid, and resorcinol. Their Sensi Peel is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and darker complexions (Fitzpatrick IV–VI), making it appropriate for patients for whom aggressive peels would carry PIH risk. PCA's Ultra Peel and Jessner Peel options address more significant photodamage and uneven tone.

VI Peel is a medium-depth peel containing a synergistic blend of TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. It is particularly effective for melasma, active acne, keratosis pilaris, and premature aging, and is marketed as safe for all skin types. Its inclusion of retinoic acid extends its action into the dermis, promoting collagen synthesis beyond simple exfoliation.
