Type
MRI Scan
Duration
45 min
Combined brain MRI and MR angiography of the cerebral arteries in a single session. Evaluates both brain parenchyma and intracranial vascular anatomy for comprehensive neurological assessment.
This combined examination pairs the standard brain MRI protocol with time-of-flight MR angiography of the intracranial arteries. The brain component covers T1, T2, FLAIR, and DWI sequences for parenchymal assessment, while the angiographic component visualises the circle of Willis, middle cerebral arteries, anterior and posterior cerebral arteries, and basilar artery. The MR angiography uses flow-sensitive sequences that do not require intravenous contrast injection, making the examination safe for patients with renal impairment and avoiding contrast-related side effects. The radiologist reviews both data sets as an integrated study, correlating any parenchymal abnormalities with potential vascular causes. At 1,130 PLN for the combined scan, this represents a saving compared to booking the brain MRI and cerebral angiography separately. The examination is particularly valuable for stroke workup, aneurysm screening in patients with family history, and investigation of transient ischaemic attacks.
