An MRI of the lumbar (lower back) spine that images the vertebrae, discs, spinal canal and nerve roots, commonly used to investigate low back pain, sciatica and suspected disc herniation. The study uses no radiation and shows soft tissue in fine detail. Lumbar spine MRI gives a detailed view of the lower back — the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, the intervertebral discs, the spinal canal and the nerve roots that travel towards the legs. At Neoscan the scan is performed on a Philips Ingenia Prodiva 1.5T system with the in-bore Ambient Experience environment, allowing you to choose lighting, music and projected imagery to make the examination feel calmer — a feature aimed especially at people who feel claustrophobic or anxious. You lie on your back and remain still for around 20 to 30 minutes while the scanner acquires each sequence, wearing ear protection for the knocking sound it makes.…
