Type
Extraction
Duration
45 min
Removal of a tooth that is too damaged, decayed or impacted to save, carried out under local anaesthetic. NB Dental handles both straightforward extractions and more complex surgical cases, including impacted wisdom teeth and exposure of impacted canines, with on-site 3D imaging available to plan difficult removals. The team focuses on a careful technique and clear aftercare, and can discuss replacing the tooth afterwards with an implant or other restoration.
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth that cannot be restored or is causing problems — for example through severe decay or fracture, advanced gum disease, or impaction where a tooth such as a wisdom tooth or canine is stuck and unable to erupt properly. NB Dental performs both simple extractions, where a visible tooth is removed under local anaesthetic, and surgical extractions, which may be needed for teeth that are broken at the gum line, have curved roots, or are impacted in the bone. The clinic's on-site cone-beam 3D imaging helps the surgeon assess the position of roots, nerves and sinuses beforehand so that more demanding removals can be planned carefully. Wisdom teeth are a common reason for extraction when they are impacted, repeatedly inflamed or crowding the mouth, and the clinic prices their removal separately to reflect the surgical work involved. After any extraction you are given clear aftercare instructions to support healing and reduce the small risks of bleeding, swelling or infection, and the team is available if you have concerns during recovery. Because losing a tooth can affect appearance, biting and the position of neighbouring teeth, the dentist can also talk through replacement options — such as a dental implant, bridge or denture — and, where an implant is planned, discuss whether bone preservation at the time of extraction is appropriate. Local anaesthetic keeps the procedure comfortable, and most people recover within a few days.
