A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a titanium post placed in the jawbone that, once healed, supports a custom crown. NB Dental uses the Neodent implant system and plans placement with on-site 3D imaging for accuracy. An implant restores a single gap without involving the neighbouring teeth and helps maintain the jawbone. The implant and its crown are priced separately, and bone grafting is available for patients who need extra support before placement.
About this treatment
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Over a healing period it fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation onto which a custom-made crown is later attached to replace a missing tooth. Compared with a conventional bridge, an implant does not rely on cutting down the adjacent teeth, and because it transmits chewing forces into the jaw it helps…
Treatment is generally staged. After the implant is surgically placed under local anaesthetic, it is left to integrate for some weeks to months before the implant is uncovered if needed and the final all-ceramic crown is fitted; the implant and the crown are therefore quoted as separate items.
