The National Skin Centre offers comprehensive mole and skin lesion assessment and removal services, conducted by accredited specialist dermatologists with access to the full range of removal modalities and diagnostic pathology support. Any mole or skin lesion brought to NSC's attention is first assessed by a dermatologist to determine its nature — benign, pre-malignant, or potentially malignant. NSC's clinicians are trained in dermoscopy and clinical pattern recognition, enabling accurate triage and appropriate treatment planning. Removal methods employed at NSC include surgical excision (cutting the lesion out with a margin of surrounding skin), shave excision (for raised, benign lesions), electrodessication, cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen, and laser removal for superficial or pigmented lesions. Method selection is based on lesion type, location, size, depth, and the patient's skin type and healing profile. For lesions with any suspicion of malignancy — particularly atypical moles (dysplastic naevi), seborrhoeic keratoses with irregular features, or lesions with rapid change in colour, border, or size — NSC sends the excised tissue for histopathological analysis. This pathology review is performed by specialist dermatopathologists and is an important safeguard unique to an institution of NSC's scale and capability. Post-removal care and wound management guidance is provided at the time of the procedure. Follow-up appointments are scheduled as clinically necessary. For patients with a history of skin cancer or multiple atypical moles, NSC also offers skin surveillance programmes. Pricing for removal procedures is determined after the consultation assessment and varies based on the number of lesions, their size and depth, and the removal method selected.
