The bullhorn lip lift offered through myMedical Prague is a permanent surgical alternative to lip filler: a small strip of skin is removed just under the nose, shortening the elongated upper-lip (philtrum) area, gently rolling the upper lip outward and increasing visible pink lip height. Unlike fillers it adds no volume artificially and never needs repeating, making it ideal for patients whose upper lip has lengthened and thinned with age. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia in about an hour, with the fine scar concealed in the shadow at the base of the nose.
About this treatment
With age, the skin between the nose and upper lip (the philtrum) lengthens — the upper lip thins, rolls inward, and less of the pink lip and teeth show when the mouth is relaxed. Filler cannot correct this; adding volume to an elongated lip can in fact worsen the proportions. The bullhorn lip lift addresses the cause directly.
Technique
The surgeon marks a wavy, bullhorn-shaped strip of skin immediately beneath the nasal base — typically 3–5 mm of the philtrum — and removes it, lifting the upper lip and everting the vermilion (pink lip) for a fuller, more youthful mouth with greater tooth show. Preparation required
Avoid blood thinners for 2 weeks before (as advised). No smoking for 4 weeks before and after — it directly impairs lip wound healing. Arrive with no lip filler within the preceding 3 months where possible; mention any history of cold sores so prophylaxis can be prescribed.
