Native 3.0T MRI of the thorax covering chest wall, mediastinum, and lung periphery. Radiation-free alternative for chest assessment.
The thorax MRI covers the chest wall, mediastinal structures, and peripheral lung fields using the 3.0 Tesla Philips Ingenia Elition scanner. While CT remains the primary modality for lung parenchymal evaluation, MRI offers superior soft-tissue contrast for mediastinal masses, chest wall tumours, and assessment of structures adjacent to the heart and great vessels. The examination is indicated for characterisation of mediastinal lymphadenopathy, anterior mediastinal masses such as thymoma, chest wall lesions including rib and sternal pathology, and assessment of pleural disease. Its lack of ionising radiation makes thorax MRI particularly suitable for younger patients, pregnant women (without contrast), and those requiring serial follow-up imaging. Priced at EUR 330 as a single-region scan. Gadolinium contrast is available as a EUR 60 add-on when clinically indicated for mass characterisation.
