Contrast-enhanced 3.0T multiparametric prostate MRI for detection and characterisation of prostate lesions. Includes gadolinium contrast. PI-RADS assessment.
The prostate MRI at MyDiagnostic uses the 3.0 Tesla Philips Ingenia Elition with gadolinium contrast to perform multiparametric imaging of the prostate gland. The 3T field strength is particularly advantageous for prostate imaging, where the improved signal-to-noise ratio enables better detection of suspicious lesions in both the peripheral and transition zones. The protocol combines T2-weighted anatomical sequences for zonal anatomy and lesion morphology, diffusion-weighted imaging with apparent diffusion coefficient mapping for cellularity assessment, and dynamic contrast-enhanced sequences for vascularity evaluation. Each identified lesion is scored using the PI-RADS (Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System) scale from 1 to 5 to estimate the probability of clinically significant cancer. At EUR 640 (EUR 580 base examination plus EUR 60 contrast agent), this examination guides urological decision-making between targeted biopsy, active surveillance, and further investigation. It is commonly requested for men with elevated PSA levels, those already under active surveillance for low-grade prostate cancer, and as pre-biopsy planning to improve targeting accuracy.
