Mid-tier sports panel adding full blood count, comprehensive metabolic markers, inflammation (CRP), and expanded micronutrients to the Basis check. At €171.65 (plus blood draw), suitable for serious amateur and competitive athletes.
The Standard sports panel extends the Basis profile into a comprehensive athletic health screen. The full blood count detects exercise-induced anaemia, which can occur through foot-strike haemolysis in runners, or through chronic low-grade gastrointestinal bleeding during endurance events. Reticulocyte count (if included) indicates the bone marrow's response to any detected anaemia. The metabolic panel covers liver function (GPT, GOT, GGT) — important because elevated transaminases after intense exercise are normal and transient, but persistent elevation may indicate overtraining, medication effects, or underlying liver pathology. CK (creatine kinase) may be included to assess muscle damage, though this is expected to be elevated in active individuals. CRP as an inflammation marker helps distinguish physiological training adaptation from pathological overtraining. Chronic elevation in an athlete suggests insufficient recovery, subclinical infection, or overuse injury. The expanded micronutrient panel adds zinc and selenium to the iron/vitamin D/magnesium core. Zinc supports immune function and is lost through sweat; selenium is essential for thyroid hormone conversion and antioxidant defence via the glutathione peroxidase system. This profile is recommended semi-annually for athletes training 5+ hours per week, or as a diagnostic workup for unexplained performance decline.
