Entry-level sports performance panel focusing on the biomarkers most affected by regular training: iron stores, vitamin D, magnesium, and thyroid function. At €19.82 (plus blood draw), an affordable screen for recreational athletes.
This focused panel targets the micronutrient and hormonal markers most commonly depleted or disrupted by regular physical training. Iron status is the highest-priority marker for athletes — exercise-induced iron losses through haemolysis, sweating, and gastrointestinal microbleeding can deplete stores even in non-anaemic athletes, causing fatigue and impaired performance. Vitamin D is critical for muscle function, bone density, and immune resilience. Athletes training predominantly indoors or at Leipzig's latitude (51°N) are at high risk of deficiency, particularly from October through March. Multiple studies have shown associations between vitamin D status and athletic performance, injury rates, and respiratory infection frequency. Magnesium supports over 300 enzymatic reactions including ATP production, muscle contraction and relaxation, and electrolyte balance. Exercise increases magnesium requirements and losses through sweat. TSH screens for thyroid dysfunction, which can manifest as unexplained fatigue, decreased performance, weight changes, and impaired recovery — symptoms often attributed to overtraining. This Basis panel is appropriate for recreational athletes and as a periodic check between more comprehensive Sport-Check assessments.
