A full-ceramic crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers and restores a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth, rebuilding its strength, shape and appearance. Being metal-free, it lets light through more naturally and blends well with surrounding teeth, making it a popular choice for visible areas. The practice uses intraoral scanning to capture the tooth digitally. A more economical metal-ceramic crown is also offered.

A dental crown is a custom cap that fits over a prepared tooth to restore it when too much natural structure has been lost to decay, fracture, a large old filling or root-canal treatment. By fully encasing the tooth, the crown rebuilds its shape and biting function and protects what remains from further damage. A full-ceramic crown is made entirely from tooth-coloured ceramic with no metal core, which allows light to pass through it much like a natural tooth and avoids any dark line at the gum, so it is especially well suited to front and other visible teeth. At MultiMedica the tooth is prepared under local anaesthetic and captured with an intraoral scanner rather than conventional impression putty, which is more comfortable and feeds an accurate digital model to the laboratory; anaesthesia and the diagnostic scan are included in the fee. A temporary crown is usually fitted while the permanent one is made, then the final crown is checked for fit, bite and colour before being bonded into place. With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, crowns are a long-lasting restoration. For patients where appearance is less critical, or where extra strength is wanted, the clinic also offers a metal-ceramic (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crown at a lower price. The choice of crown type, shade and any underlying work needed is discussed at a prosthetic consultation.
