Gynecomastia Surgery – Male Breast Reduction (Operace prsa muži)

Gynecomastia — the benign enlargement of male breast tissue — affects an estimated 30–40% of men at some point in life, with causes ranging from puberty and hormonal imbalance to medications, anabolic steroid use, and idiopathic factors. Pseudogynecomastia, in which the enlargement is primarily fatty tissue rather than gland, has a different surgical approach. Accurate diagnosis is therefore the essential first step.

At MUDr. Lucie Kučerová's Brno practice, every patient receives a pre-operative ultrasound examination (included in the price) to clearly distinguish glandular from fatty tissue and assess the gland's size and distribution. Where indicated, an endocrinological evaluation is also recommended to rule out hormonal causes before proceeding with surgery.

For standard gynecomastia, MUDr. Kučerová uses a periareolar incision — placed exactly at the lower border of the areola where skin meets the darker pigmented ring — to access and excise the enlarged glandular tissue. This scar position heals with minimal visibility.
