A high-resolution brain MRI performed on a 3 Tesla scanner, producing detailed images of brain parenchyma, ventricles, and surrounding structures. The scan includes multiple pulse sequences and AI-assisted analysis to support the radiologist in identifying subtle abnormalities.

MRI Dubai's Brain MRI uses a 3 Tesla magnetic field — double the strength of the 1.5 Tesla scanners found in most general diagnostic facilities. This higher field strength translates directly into improved signal-to-noise ratio and spatial resolution, allowing the radiologist to detect lesions, structural changes, and vascular anomalies that might be below the detection threshold on lower-field equipment. The scan protocol runs multiple pulse sequences tailored to different diagnostic priorities. T1-weighted sequences provide high anatomical detail, clearly delineating grey and white matter boundaries, cortical thickness, and ventricular morphology. T2-weighted and FLAIR (fluid-attenuated inversion recovery) sequences are sensitive to oedema, gliosis, and demyelination, making them essential for detecting inflammatory and ischaemic changes. Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) captures restricted water movement in tissues, which is the earliest detectable change in acute ischaemic stroke — often visible on DWI before any abnormality appears on conventional sequences. The AI-assisted analysis component runs alongside the radiologist's interpretation. Machine learning algorithms trained on large imaging datasets flag regions of interest — areas of unusual signal intensity, asymmetric anatomy, or texture patterns associated with known pathologies. This does not replace the radiologist's judgment but provides a computational second pass that can catch findings in areas the human eye might spend less time reviewing. The patient lies supine with their head positioned in a dedicated head coil. The actual scanning time is approximately 25 to 35 minutes depending on the specific sequences ordered. Earplugs or headphones are provided to reduce the noise from gradient coil vibration, and a squeeze-ball alert is placed in the patient's hand for communication during the scan. Patients with claustrophobia concerns should discuss this with the centre before booking, as the bore of a 3T scanner is similar in dimensions to standard MRI tunnels. Results are typically reviewed by the radiologist within one to two business days, with a structured report and digital images provided via a secure portal or on physical media.
