Shoulder MRI

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

25 min

MRI of the shoulder joint assessing the rotator cuff tendons, labrum, biceps tendon, and glenohumeral structures. Identifies tears, impingement, and instability patterns without radiation.

Shoulder MRI at MRI Diagnostyka provides comprehensive imaging of the glenohumeral joint and surrounding structures using the Siemens 1.5T scanner. The examination evaluates the four rotator cuff tendons (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and teres minor), the glenoid labrum, the long head of biceps tendon, the acromioclavicular joint, and the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa. These structures are the primary sites of pathology in the vast majority of shoulder complaints. Rotator cuff tears -- ranging from partial-thickness fraying to full-thickness ruptures with tendon retraction -- are among the most common findings, particularly in patients over 40 or those with occupational overhead activity. The scan can also identify subacromial impingement, labral tears (Bankart and SLAP lesions) associated with glenohumeral instability, calcific tendinitis, adhesive capsulitis changes, and acromioclavicular joint osteoarthritis. The non-contrast protocol takes approximately 25 minutes. At 710 PLN (roughly EUR 165), this is considerably more affordable than private shoulder MRI in Germany, Austria, or the UK, where costs range from EUR 400 to EUR 900. MRI Diagnostyka's wheelchair-accessible Bielany facility is located near the Stare Bielany Metro station on Warsaw's M1 line, providing straightforward access for patients coming from across the city or from outside Warsaw. Reports are delivered within 15 business days by specialist radiologists and can be forwarded to the patient's treating orthopaedic surgeon or physiotherapist for clinical decision-making.
