Hip MRI at MRI Diagnostyka images the femoral head and acetabulum, the hip joint capsule, the acetabular labrum, articular cartilage surfaces, periarticular tendons (including the gluteus medius and minimus), trochanteric bursae, and the proximal femoral bone marrow. The Siemens 1.5T scanner provides the soft-tissue resolution necessary to identify subtle pathology that plain radiographs miss. The scan is particularly important for two clinical scenarios: femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) with labral tears, which is a common cause of groin pain in young active adults; and avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head, where early detection through bone marrow signal changes can influence treatment decisions and potentially preserve the native hip joint. Other findings include early osteoarthritis, stress fractures, tendinopathy and bursitis around the greater trochanter, and iliopsoas-related pathology. The non-contrast examination takes approximately 30 minutes and requires no referral. At 750 PLN (roughly EUR 175), the cost is well below comparable private hip MRI in Western European centres, where prices typically range from EUR 450 to EUR 900.
