Prostate MRI (Self-Referral)

MRI Centrum's self-referral prostate MRI is specifically designed for men who want prostate screening without navigating the Dutch healthcare referral system. This makes it particularly accessible for international visitors and medical tourists who do not have a local GP. The scan can be booked directly through the clinic's website or by phone, with appointments typically available within a few days.

The multiparametric MRI protocol acquires multiple sequence types — T2-weighted for anatomical detail, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for cellularity assessment, and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) sequences for vascular mapping. Findings are classified using the PI-RADS scoring system, an internationally standardised framework that grades the likelihood of clinically significant prostate cancer from 1 (very low) to 5 (very high).

The scan takes approximately 15-20 minutes and is performed on the clinic's MRI scanner. Results, including a detailed radiologist report, are available within one week. The report can be shared with the patient's urologist or GP for any necessary follow-up. Self-referral pricing is a simplified flat fee of EUR 295, which includes the scan and radiologist interpretation.
