About

KardioRadiologie und KardioChirurgie im Mediapark is a private specialist practice dedicated entirely to non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. Founded and led by PD Dr. med. Oliver Klass — who holds dual specialist certification in both radiology and cardiac surgery — the practice is located within the MediaPark-Klinik in central Cologne. The clinical focus is on CT coronary angiography and coronary calcium scoring using a 256-slice CT scanner with a rotation time of 270 milliseconds, one of the fastest acquisition speeds available. The practice was the first in Germany to introduce iDose, a computational dose-reduction technology that lowers radiation exposure while maintaining or improving image quality. This technical foundation supports precise, diagnostic-quality cardiac imaging with radiation levels significantly below those of conventional cardiac catheterisation. PD Dr. Klass completed his academic career at the University Hospital Ulm, which served as Germany's national reference centre for cardiac imaging. He holds the academic title of Privatdozent (senior lecturer) after habilitation at Ulm University in 2011, and serves on the board of the German Radiological Society's cardiac and vascular diagnostics working group. He has delivered lectures and workshops on coronary CT angiography internationally and contributed to major medical textbooks on cardiovascular imaging. Beyond diagnostic imaging, PD Dr. Klass offers outpatient and inpatient implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators, and event recorders — an unusual combination that enables comprehensive cardiology-surgery follow-up within a single practice. The practice operates in close collaboration with referring cardiologists to ensure integrated patient management. The location within the MediaPark-Klinik in Cologne's Neustadt/Nord district puts the practice at one of the city's main private clinic hubs. Consultations are conducted before and after every examination to align the scanning protocol with the clinical question and to discuss findings directly with the patient.
