Brain & Head MRI

Type

Brain MRI

Duration

40 min

A brain and head MRI at MR Centrum Titanium produces detailed images of the brain and surrounding head structures, including specialised areas, without using ionising radiation. The scan is read by a subspecialised neuroradiology team led by doc. MUDr. Andrea Šprláková-Puková, Ph.D., with several Ph.D.-level radiologists covering neuroradiology and ORL imaging. The examination takes roughly 15–40 minutes in a modern scanner with hearing protection, fresh-air ventilation, and continuous visual and signal-button contact with staff. Intravenous contrast may be added when clinically indicated. Patients are asked to arrive 15 minutes early without facial make-up or hair products, as these can contain metallic particles that degrade image quality.

Magnetic resonance imaging is the reference method for examining the brain and soft tissues of the head: it visualises grey and white matter, the brainstem, cerebellum, pituitary region, inner ear structures and orbits in high contrast, without any radiation exposure. It is commonly requested to investigate persistent headaches, dizziness, suspected demyelinating disease, hearing or balance disorders, visual disturbances, and to follow up known findings. **The centre:** MR Centrum Titanium is a newly opened (2026) private MRI-only facility in the Titanium business complex in central Brno. Because the centre performs MRI exclusively, scheduling is fast and the workflow — phone booking, safety questionnaire, examination, radiology report — is tightly managed. The reporting team is unusually senior for an outpatient centre: the professional guarantor doc. MUDr. Andrea Šprláková-Puková, Ph.D. leads ten named radiologists whose subspecialties include neuroradiology, ORL and paediatric radiology, which matters for head imaging where reader experience strongly influences diagnostic accuracy. **The examination:** You arrive 15 minutes before your slot with your insurance card and referral (self-pay patients can be examined on request — confirm by phone). After completing an informed consent form (available in Czech or English), you change in a preparation cubicle, removing everything metallic — glasses, hearing aids, dentures, jewellery, watches, cards and phones. Cotton clothing without zips or metal fasteners is recommended. You lie on the scanner table with headphones or earplugs for hearing protection; the scan itself takes 15–40 minutes, during which staying still is essential. You hold a signalling balloon to communicate with the radiology technician, who watches you throughout. A small intravenous dose of contrast agent may be administered for certain indications, with monitoring for the whole examination. **Preparation:** Most head examinations need no special preparation, but arrive without make-up — mascara, foundation, powder or hair gel can contain metal particles. Eating and drinking beforehand is fine unless advised otherwise. Patients with metal implants can usually be scanned 6 weeks after implantation or with documented MR compatibility; certain items (e.g. a metal splinter in the eye) preclude scanning, so complete the safety questionnaire accurately. Claustrophobic patients are talked through the procedure and can ask their referring physician for a mild anxiolytic beforehand. Cooperative children from age 6 can be examined with a parent present; the centre does not examine patients requiring general anaesthesia. **Results:** Images are reported by the subspecialised radiology team and the report is issued to you or your referring physician following the examination.

Price
Kč 6,000

Approximately 6,000 Kč for a self-pay brain/head MRI (one region) — the typical Czech private-MRI baseline; the centre does not publish an online price list, so confirm the exact price when booking by phone. Intravenous contrast, if clinically indicated, is typically charged extra (around 2,000 Kč at comparable Czech centres). A 50% trial-operation discount on MR examinations ran until mid-June 2026.
