Thread Lift
Duration
1 hour
PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift at Motykie Med Spa for non-surgical facial lifting and contouring. Barbed PDO threads are inserted under the skin and physically lift descended facial tissue while simultaneously stimulating collagen production around the thread. Areas include the mid-face, jowls, brow, and neck. Results appear immediately and continue to improve as collagen remodels. No general anesthesia — performed under local anesthesia in the med spa.
PDO thread lift at Motykie Med Spa offers a non-surgical lifting solution for patients experiencing early to moderate facial laxity who are not yet ready for — or not seeking — surgical intervention. PDO (polydioxanone) is a synthetic absorbable suture material used for decades in surgical wound closure; in thread lift form, the same polymer is manufactured into fine threads embedded with small bidirectional barbs or cogs along their length. During the procedure, performed under local anesthesia at the med spa, a thin needle or cannula is used to insert the thread in a subcutaneous plane; once positioned, the barbed thread is anchored to a fixed point and the free end is tensioned, gathering and lifting the overlying skin and soft tissue into a more elevated position. The mechanical lifting effect is immediately visible. Over the following three to six months, the polydioxanone material triggers a localised inflammatory and fibrotic response in the surrounding tissue — fibroblasts are recruited to the thread and deposit new collagen along its length, building a structural collagen scaffold that maintains the lift position as the PDO itself gradually dissolves. The combined immediate mechanical lift and delayed biostimulatory collagen deposition means results continue to improve for three to six months post-procedure and are associated with lasting twelve to eighteen months total, at which point the treatment may be repeated. Common treatment areas include the mid-face and cheeks for upward contouring, the jowl line and lower face for definition, the brow for non-surgical brow lift, the neck for platysmal banding, and the nasolabial folds for fold elevation. Mild bruising and a sensation of tightness for one to two weeks are the typical post-treatment findings. No surgery, no general anesthesia, and no significant downtime — most patients return to work within two to three days.
