An MRI of the foot produces detailed images of the foot's complex structure — the many small joints and their cartilage, the tendons and ligaments, the plantar fascia, the soft tissues between the bones and the bone marrow itself. Because it reveals soft tissue and early bone changes that X-ray cannot, it is the scan often used to investigate persistent foot or heel pain, suspected stress fractures, plantar fasciitis, tendon injuries and tendinopathy, and soft-tissue problems such as a Morton's neuroma or a ganglion. At MojaDiagnoza the examination is acquired on the centre's own MRI scanner, with the foot positioned in a dedicated coil while you lie still for the sequences, typically around fifteen to twenty-five minutes. Because only the lower limb enters the magnet the scan is usually comfortable; ear protection is provided as the machine is loud during imaging. A foot scan costs 739 zł, the same rate as the hand, thigh and lower leg. The images are described by a radiology specialist and the report and pictures are made available through the RadPoint online patient portal, usually within around 96 hours. An MRI safety questionnaire is reviewed first, as certain implants or metal fragments can make the examination unsuitable.
