MRI of hip joint for arthritis, AVN, and labral tears.
A joint or musculoskeletal MRI produces detailed images of the bones, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and surrounding soft tissues of a specific joint. MRI is the imaging modality of choice for evaluating internal joint structures because it provides exceptional soft-tissue contrast without radiation. For the knee, this includes visualization of the menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments, and articular cartilage. For the shoulder, it reveals the rotator cuff tendons, labrum, and biceps tendon. Each joint has dedicated coils and imaging protocols optimized for its unique anatomy. The scan typically takes 30–45 minutes for a single joint and requires the area to remain still throughout the examination.
