MODE Aesthetics' Fractional RF Microneedling (MRF™) is an FDA-cleared, non-laser aesthetic procedure that combines insulated microneedles with radiofrequency energy to remodel the dermis without damaging the epidermis. The microneedles penetrate to customisable depths in the dermis, where they deliver high-tensioned RF pulses that generate heat in targeted tissue zones. This heat triggers a controlled wound-healing response, stimulating fibroblast activity and new collagen and elastin synthesis — the biological mechanism responsible for long-term skin tightening, texture refinement, and scar improvement. Because the RF energy bypasses the epidermis (the surface layer), the treatment is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker Asian skin tones that are more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from ablative lasers. Conditions treated include atrophic, boxcar, rolling, and ice-pick acne scars; lax or loose skin; enlarged pores; stretch marks; burn scars; surgical scars; and fine wrinkles. A numbing cream is applied 30–60 minutes before the session. The face procedure takes 20–30 minutes; larger body areas may take up to 2 hours. Redness and warmth resolve within 4–6 hours; microneedle marks fade over 4 days. Multiple sessions are recommended for optimal acne scar revision.
