Microscope Root Canal Treatment

Type

Root Canal

Duration

2 hours

Microscope-assisted root canal treatment to clean, disinfect and seal the inside of a tooth whose nerve has become inflamed or infected, allowing it to be kept rather than extracted. Pricing depends on how many canals the tooth has, and the clinic also handles more complex cases such as re-treatment of previously filled teeth and removal of fractured instruments. A fibre-post build-up can be added afterwards to restore a heavily broken-down tooth.

Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft tissue inside a tooth — the pulp — becomes irreversibly inflamed or infected, often through deep decay, a crack or trauma. The aim is to relieve pain, clear infection and preserve the natural tooth. The dentist removes the damaged pulp, then carefully cleans, shapes and disinfects the canal system before sealing it to prevent reinfection. At MM Kaczmarek this is carried out with the aid of a dental operating microscope, which improves visibility of the fine canal anatomy and supports accurate, thorough treatment; CBCT imaging is available for difficult cases. The cost reflects the complexity of the tooth: front teeth typically have a single canal, while back molars may have several, so multi-canal teeth take longer and cost more. The clinic also manages challenging situations — re-treating teeth where a previous root filling has failed, retrieving instruments fractured inside a canal, and using biocompatible MTA cement where the situation calls for it. Treatment is performed under local anaesthetic and is usually no more uncomfortable than having a filling. Because a root-treated tooth can become brittle, it often needs a substantial restoration afterwards; the clinic offers a fibre-post build-up and, where indicated, a crown to protect it. Your dentist will explain the likely number of visits and the best way to restore the tooth once treatment is complete.
