Bone-building procedures that rebuild or reinforce the jaw so a dental implant can be placed where there is currently too little bone. The clinic offers ridge augmentation, guided bone regeneration and both closed and open sinus-floor elevation, and can use PRF prepared from your own blood to support healing. These are surgical procedures planned with CBCT imaging and carried out by the practice's oral surgery team, often as a staged step before implants.
When a tooth has been missing for some time, the surrounding jawbone tends to shrink, and in the upper back jaw the air-filled maxillary sinus can sit low over the ridge. Either situation can leave too little bone to hold an implant securely, and bone augmentation is used to rebuild a suitable foundation. MM Kaczmarek offers a range of techniques matched to the size and location of the deficiency. Ridge augmentation rebuilds width or height along the jaw; guided bone regeneration (GBR) uses graft material held in place by a membrane and fixation screws to encourage the body to form new bone; and sinus-floor elevation raises the sinus lining to create room for bone in the upper molar region, either through a small internal (closed) approach or a more extensive lateral-window (open) approach for larger gains. These are surgical procedures carried out under local anaesthetic by the clinic's oral surgery team and planned with CBCT imaging so the anatomy is clearly understood beforehand. The practice can also prepare PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) from a sample of your own blood, a concentrate that is associated with supporting the healing process. Augmentation is frequently done as a staged step, with a healing period before the implant is placed, though in some cases grafting and implant placement can be combined. The surgeon will assess your scans and explain which technique is appropriate, what the healing involves and how it fits into your overall implant plan. As with any oral surgery, you will receive detailed aftercare guidance.
