Botulinum toxin used not for wrinkles but to reduce excessive, uncontrolled sweating — most commonly in the underarms, and also the palms or soles. A grid of small injections temporarily blocks the nerve signals that switch on the sweat glands in the treated area. About this treatment
Botulinum toxin for hyperhidrosis targets the small nerve signals that tell the sweat glands to produce sweat. By injecting the toxin in a grid of tiny points across an overactive area — typically the underarms, and sometimes the palms or soles — the local sweat response is markedly reduced for a period of months, after which the effect gradually wears off and the treatment can be repeated.
At MJAesthetic the area is first assessed and mapped; numbing can be used for more sensitive sites such as the hands. The injections are shallow and the appointment is straightforward, with most people resuming normal activities the same day.
