Pico laser technology represents a significant advancement in laser aesthetics, delivering ultra-short picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulses of energy that shatter pigment particles and stimulate dermal remodelling with significantly less thermal damage to surrounding tissue compared to traditional nanosecond lasers. This makes pico laser particularly well-suited to Asian skin types, which carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) with older laser systems. For pigmentation, the laser's photoacoustic effect breaks up melanin clusters into micro-fragments that the body's lymphatic system then clears naturally, effectively treating sunspots, age spots, freckles, melasma, Hori's naevus, and post-acne marks. For skin rejuvenation, specialised diffractive lens array (DLA) handpieces scatter the laser energy to create controlled micro-trauma zones in the dermis, triggering a wound-healing response that generates new collagen and elastin—resulting in improved skin texture, pore tightening, and overall luminosity.
