Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) uses a motorized cannula that vibrates at a high frequency, mechanically disrupting fat cells and reducing the physical effort required from the surgeon — allowing more consistent, thorough fat removal, particularly in fibrous areas such as the male chest or back. VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) ultrasound-assisted liposuction uses a specialized ultrasonic probe that emits high-frequency sound waves to selectively emulsify fat cells before removal, leaving surrounding blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue relatively intact. VASER is particularly valuable for high-definition body contouring where precise fat removal around muscle groups is needed, and for skin tightening due to the thermal energy effect on overlying skin. RFAL (radiofrequency-assisted liposuction, e.g., BodyTite) applies radiofrequency energy from the cannula to the deep surface of the skin during fat removal, causing subdermal coagulation and collagen contraction — a meaningful skin-tightening addition in areas with mild skin laxity.
