An in-house dental cone-beam CT (CBCT) scan that produces a detailed three-dimensional image of the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses. It is used to plan implants, assess wisdom teeth and complex root canals, and investigate problems that flat X-rays cannot fully show. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that captures the jaws and teeth in three dimensions, revealing bone height and width, the precise position of nerves and the maxillary sinuses, and the internal anatomy of teeth in a way that conventional two-dimensional X-rays cannot. This detail is valuable for planning dental implants safely, assessing impacted wisdom teeth before surgery, investigating complex or unusual root canal anatomy, and evaluating lesions, fractures or other problems. At Milanova the scan is taken in-house, so imaging and assessment can happen in the same appointment and treatment planning is not delayed. The scan itself is quick — you stand or sit still while the machine rotates around the head — and uses a focused field of view to keep the radiation dose as low as is practical for the diagnostic task; the clinic offers both a full scan and a smaller partial scan for localised questions. Alongside CBCT, the practice provides panoramic (OPG) imaging, which gives a broad single view of all the teeth and jaws, and cephalometric X-rays used in orthodontic assessment, as well as individual intraoral X-rays for examining specific teeth.
