The thyroid function panel at Laboratoře Mikrochem measures five key markers — TSH, free T3, free T4, anti-TPO, and anti-TG — to provide a complete picture of how the thyroid gland is functioning and whether autoimmune thyroid disease is present. All five tests are performed using CMIA (chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay), the same analytical platform used in hospital endocrinology departments, on instruments running daily quality controls under ISO 15189 accreditation. A single venous blood draw covers the entire panel; results are ready within 3 working days. Walk-in blood collection is available from 07:00 Monday to Friday at the main Olomouc laboratory, and from 06:30 at the Janského Street collection point — no physician referral required for self-paying patients.
Thyroid disorders are among the most common endocrine conditions in the Czech Republic, affecting an estimated 8–10% of adults — the majority undiagnosed. Laboratoře Mikrochem offers a complete five-marker thyroid panel using chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) technology, a high-sensitivity method with tight analytical performance that is the reference standard for thyroid diagnostics in hospital laboratories across Central Europe. The panel covers the full diagnostic axis. TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is the most sensitive primary screening marker: even small changes in thyroid hormone levels cause a disproportionately large shift in TSH, making it the best single test to detect both hypothyroidism (elevated TSH) and hyperthyroidism (suppressed TSH). Free T4 measures the main thyroid secretion product — not total T4, but the biologically active fraction not bound to transport proteins, giving a direct measure of thyroid output. Free T3 measures the most active form of thyroid hormone, particularly important when T4-to-T3 conversion is suspected to be impaired (common in patients with chronic illness, selenium deficiency, or on beta-blockers). The autoimmune markers complete the picture. Anti-TPO (anti-thyroid peroxidase) antibodies are elevated in 90–95% of patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and in 70–80% of those with Graves' disease — the two most common autoimmune thyroid conditions. Anti-TG (anti-thyroglobulin) antibodies provide a second autoimmune signal, particularly useful for monitoring in patients who have had thyroid cancer or total thyroidectomy, where thyroglobulin itself is tracked as a tumour marker. All five markers are processed daily at the main Olomouc laboratory under ISO 15189 accreditation, with an external quality assessment programme covering the immunology division. Analytical runs include internal quality control samples at the beginning and end of each batch; results are released only after the controls pass. The printed report lists results with reference intervals stratified by sex and age where applicable, allowing direct clinical interpretation. Self-paying patients do not need a physician referral. Walk-in blood draws are available from 07:00 at the main Nezvalova Street laboratory and from 06:30 at the Janského Street collection point, both in Olomouc. The same tests are available at the Přerov, Šumperk, and Valašské Meziříčí branches. No fasting is required, though an early morning draw before 10:00 gives the most stable TSH reading. For patients already taking levothyroxine, the draw should ideally be taken before the morning dose to capture the trough level — confirm timing with your prescribing physician.

Who Is This For?
Anyone experiencing fatigue, unexplained weight changes, cold or heat intolerance, hair loss, mood disturbances, or irregular menstrual cycles. Particularly important for women over 35, anyone with a family history of thyroid disease, and patients being monitored for Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves' disease, or thyroid cancer remission.
What's Included
Preparation Required
No fasting required, but a morning blood draw (before 10:00) gives the most stable TSH reading as levels fluctuate slightly through the day. Do not take thyroid medication (levothyroxine) until after the draw if you are already on treatment — discuss timing with your prescribing physician. No appointment needed; walk-in draw from 07:00 at main laboratory or 06:30 at Janského collection point.
Approximately 1,200 Kč for the complete 5-marker thyroid panel (TSH + fT3 + fT4 + anti-TPO + anti-TG), plus 52 Kč blood draw fee. Individual markers available separately on request. Results in 3 working days.
