Unexplained weight gain or weight-loss resistance frequently has identifiable metabolic or hormonal drivers that blood testing can reveal. This panel targets the most clinically significant markers for metabolic health assessment. TSH screens for hypothyroidism, one of the most common treatable causes of weight gain through reduced metabolic rate. Cortisol, the primary stress hormone, promotes visceral fat accumulation when chronically elevated — a pattern linked to prolonged stress, poor sleep quality, or adrenal conditions. Fasting glucose and HbA1c together assess glycaemic control and insulin resistance, which in the pre-diabetic range makes weight management substantially harder. The lipid panel reveals whether metabolic syndrome patterns are present, particularly the characteristic combination of elevated triglycerides with reduced HDL cholesterol. Uric acid is increasingly recognised as a metabolic health marker beyond gout — elevated levels correlate with fructose overconsumption, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular risk.
