PSA, or prostate-specific antigen, is a protein produced by the prostate gland, and measuring it in the blood is a common part of prostate health screening for men. It is used both for routine checks and to monitor known prostate conditions over time. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein made by cells of the prostate gland, a small amount of which normally circulates in the blood. Measuring the total PSA level is one of the most common tools used in men's health to screen for and monitor conditions affecting the prostate, and it is frequently requested as part of a general check-up in men from middle age onward.
