CT Scan
Duration

A CT scan of the head uses X-rays and computer reconstruction to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the skull and brain. Performed without contrast, it is a fast, widely used examination for assessing the head and is often requested after injury or for persistent symptoms such as headaches. At Centrum Medyczne Medix it is carried out on the centre's on-site scanner at a fixed published price, with images reviewed by a radiologist.
Computed tomography (CT) of the head combines a series of X-ray measurements taken from many angles with computer processing to build detailed cross-sectional images of the skull, brain and surrounding structures. Performed without contrast, it is a quick and commonly used scan that gives clinicians a clear view of the bony skull and brain tissue, which is why it is frequently the first-line imaging choice in a number of situations. A non-contrast head CT is often requested to assess the head after a fall or injury, to investigate persistent or sudden headaches, dizziness or other neurological symptoms, and to look at the sinuses and bony anatomy; a radiologist interprets the images and reports any findings to the referring doctor. The examination itself is brief — usually only a few minutes on the scanner — and requires lying still on a motorised table that passes through the ring-shaped gantry. No injection is needed for the non-contrast study, although a separate contrast-enhanced version is available where a doctor judges it necessary to highlight blood vessels or certain tissues. At Centrum Medyczne Medix the scan is performed on the centre's own CT equipment at a transparent listed price, with imaging available during opening hours (Monday to Friday 8:00–19:00, Saturday 8:00–13:00). A referral is normally expected, and the radiology team will explain any preparation when the appointment is arranged.
