A complete blood count, known in Poland as morfologia, measures 22 parameters from a single venous sample — including red cells, white cells, haemoglobin, haematocrit and platelets. It is the most common first-line blood test and gives a broad snapshot of general health, helping flag anaemia, infection or inflammation. At Centrum Medyczne Medix it is run in the on-site laboratory at a fixed published price, with no appointment required during opening hours.
The complete blood count (morfologia) is the cornerstone of routine blood testing and one of the first investigations most doctors request. From a single small venous sample the laboratory reports 22 separate parameters covering the three main cell lines: the red cells that carry oxygen (with haemoglobin, haematocrit and red-cell indices such as MCV and MCH), the white cells that form part of the immune response (with a five-part differential where included), and the platelets involved in clotting. Read together, these values give a wide-ranging picture of general health. The pattern of results may be associated with conditions a clinician will interpret in context — for example a low haemoglobin or red-cell count is commonly linked with anaemia, while changes in white-cell numbers can accompany infection or inflammation. Because it is inexpensive and informative, morfologia is widely used for general check-ups, before procedures, and to monitor known conditions over time. At Centrum Medyczne Medix the test is processed in the centre's own analytical laboratory, which is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 13:00; patients can usually attend without an appointment and collect or download their results once analysis is complete. No special preparation is generally required, though your referring doctor may ask you to fast if other tests are taken at the same time.
