Skin Lesion Removal (Cryosurgery & Electrosurgery)

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

20 min

Removal of benign skin lesions — warts, skin tags, small fibromas and similar changes — using cryosurgery (freezing), electrosurgery or a surgical CO2 laser, chosen to suit the lesion. At MEDIWA Clinic a dermatologist assesses each lesion, ideally with dermatoscopy, before treatment, and the same techniques are used to close visible facial capillaries. Anything suspicious is referred for appropriate further evaluation.

MEDIWA Clinic offers physician-performed removal of common benign skin lesions using whichever method best suits the lesion. Cryosurgery applies extreme cold, usually liquid nitrogen, to freeze and destroy tissue such as viral warts and some keratoses; the treated spot blisters and crusts before falling away over the following days to weeks. Electrosurgery (electrocoagulation) uses a fine, heated tip to remove or destroy small growths such as skin tags, fibromas and other superficial lesions and to seal the area, while the same approach is used to close fine, visible facial capillaries. For certain lesions a surgical CO2 laser is used to vaporise the tissue precisely with minimal effect on the surrounding skin. Importantly, any pigmented mole or changing lesion is first assessed by the dermatologist, ideally with dermatoscopy, because removal method and the need for histological examination depend on that evaluation — and a lesion with any concerning features is managed appropriately rather than simply destroyed. Treatment of a benign lesion is usually quick, performed under local anaesthetic where needed, and leaves a small wound that is kept clean while it heals; some lesions may need more than one session. Aftercare includes protecting the area and sun protection to reduce marking. These procedures suit adults wanting to remove bothersome benign lesions or visible capillaries; the dermatologist confirms the diagnosis and the most suitable method beforehand.
