Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Type

Laser

Duration

45 min

A fractional CO2 laser that resurfaces the skin in microscopic columns to improve texture, fine lines, scarring and tone, while leaving surrounding skin intact for faster recovery than fully ablative resurfacing. At MEDIWA Clinic treatment is priced by area, and an Nd:YAG laser is also available for vascular and pigment concerns. Best results come from a short course with diligent aftercare and sun protection.

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing delivers a carbon-dioxide laser beam into the skin as a grid of microscopic treatment columns, leaving healthy bridges of untreated skin between them. This fractional pattern is associated with a strong collagen-remodelling response that smooths texture, softens fine lines, helps fade scarring and evens out tone, while the intact surrounding tissue allows faster recovery than older fully ablative resurfacing. The clinic also operates the laser in a more focused, surgical mode for individual lesions. At MEDIWA Clinic the skin is cleansed and numbed before treatment, which takes around thirty to forty-five minutes depending on the area. Afterwards the skin feels warm and looks flushed, with mild swelling and a sandpaper-like texture for a few days as it renews; careful moisturising and strict sun protection support healing. Because collagen remodelling is gradual, a course of sessions a few weeks apart usually gives the best outcome, with improvements continuing for months afterwards. For redness, vessels and certain pigment concerns the clinic can instead use an Nd:YAG laser, selected to suit the issue and skin type. CO2 resurfacing is not suitable over active infection or for certain skin conditions and is avoided during pregnancy; the physician confirms suitability and the right settings for your skin beforehand.
