Anti-wrinkle injections use small, carefully placed doses of botulinum toxin to temporarily reduce the strength of specific facial muscles. When those muscles contract less forcefully, the overlying skin folds less and the dynamic lines that form with frowning, raising the brows or smiling gradually soften over the following days. At MEDIWA Clinic the appointment begins with a physician reviewing your facial movement and agreeing which areas to treat — most often the glabella between the brows, the forehead and the lateral eye area, priced by the number of zones. The injections take only a few minutes using a very fine needle and most people need no anaesthetic. You can return to everyday activities the same day, while avoiding heat, vigorous exercise and lying flat for several hours. Results typically begin to show after a few days and settle within about two weeks, generally lasting three to four months before muscle movement slowly returns and a repeat session may be considered. Beyond wrinkle softening, the clinic uses botulinum toxin for bruxism, where injections into the masseter muscles may help with jaw clenching and grinding, and for focal hyperhidrosis to reduce underarm sweating.
