Intense pulsed light (IPL) photorejuvenation targets sun spots, uneven pigmentation and overall dullness, helping to even out skin tone and brighten the complexion. Broad-spectrum light is absorbed by excess pigment, which then lifts and flakes away over the days that follow. MediLaser offers IPL for the face alone or extended to the neck and décolleté, typically over a short course.

About this treatment

IPL photorejuvenation uses broad-spectrum intense pulsed light rather than a single laser wavelength. The light is absorbed by areas of excess melanin in the skin, heating and breaking up the pigment so that sun spots and patches of uneven tone gradually darken, rise to the surface and flake away over the following one to two weeks, leaving a clearer and more even complexion. At MediLaser the area is cleansed and a cooling gel applied, and protective eyewear is worn during treatment. The handpiece delivers pulses of light across the area, often felt as a quick warm snap; a facial session takes around twenty to thirty minutes. There is little downtime — treated spots may look slightly darker before they shed, and mild redness settles quickly.
