A non-ablative fractional laser that resurfaces the skin in microscopic columns to improve texture, fine lines, scarring and tone with much less downtime than ablative lasers. The FRAX 1550 wavelength works beneath the surface to stimulate collagen while leaving the outer skin largely intact. MediLaser offers it for the face alone or extended to the neck and décolleté, best done as a short course.

About this treatment

The FRAX 1550 is a non-ablative fractional laser that delivers a 1550 nm wavelength into the skin in a grid of microscopic treatment zones, heating columns of tissue below the surface without removing the outer layer. This stimulates a collagen-remodelling response that smooths texture, softens fine lines, fades scarring and evens tone, while the surrounding untreated skin — and the largely intact surface — allows a faster, gentler recovery than ablative…

At MediLaser the skin is cleansed and numbed before treatment, which takes around thirty to forty-five minutes for the face. Afterwards the skin feels warm and looks flushed, with mild swelling and a fine sandpaper-like texture for a few days as it renews; most people return to normal activities quickly with good moisturising and sun protection.
