CT Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

30 min

Cross-sectional CT imaging across all body regions on the GE HealthCare Revolution Maxima scanner. Covers chest, abdomen, pelvis, head, neck, spine, and musculoskeletal anatomy — with or without contrast — available 24/7 at published RON prices.

CT scanning at Spitalul Medicover Pipera is performed on the GE HealthCare Revolution Maxima, one of the most advanced CT platforms in the current GE product line. The Revolution Maxima is designed around a wide-bore detector with rapid gantry rotation, enabling high-resolution volumetric acquisition of any anatomical region with minimal patient preparation. Integrated intelligent functions include dedicated cardiac and oncological applications that standardise and automate complex acquisitions, metal artefact reduction algorithms that suppress streak artefacts from joint prostheses, pacemakers, and dental hardware, and advanced post-processing automation that provides the radiologist with pre-reconstructed multi-planar reformats and three-dimensional renderings as soon as the raw data is acquired. The CT department at Pipera handles the complete range of clinical indications. Neurological CT covers the brain, posterior fossa, internal auditory canals, orbits, sinuses, and facial skeleton — both native and contrast-enhanced protocols for tumour detection, haemorrhage, infarct evolution, and post-traumatic assessment. The hospital's AVC (stroke) rapid evaluation workflow integrates the CT scanner directly into the acute neurological pathway, allowing the team to move a stroke patient from presentation to reconstructed CT perfusion imaging in minutes. This capability positions the hospital as a credible destination for acute neurological emergencies as well as for scheduled preventive imaging. Thoracic CT covers the lungs, mediastinum, pleura, pericardium, and chest wall. Abdominal CT — available as upper abdomen alone, pelvis alone, abdomen plus pelvis, or the full three-region protocol (thorax, abdomen, pelvis) — characterises pathology in the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, adrenals, bowel, bladder, and pelvic organs. Musculoskeletal CT covers the spine in all three regions and the appendicular skeleton including joints, bones, and soft tissues of the extremities. Contrast protocols are available for all regions and are charged separately from the native acquisition. Prices are published in RON on the hospital website. CT of the chest natively (CT torace nativ) is listed at 625 RON, which converts to approximately €125 at the current RON/EUR rate of 5:1. CT of the abdomen and pelvis together is 850 RON (≈ €170), and the full three-region CT (thorax, abdomen, pelvis) is 1,332 RON (≈ €266). No referral from a local GP is required for self-pay bookings. The radiology department operates without interruption, every day of the year, so appointments can be arranged for any hour, including evenings, weekends, and national holidays. Results are interpreted by specialist radiologists and delivered as a structured written report. For scheduled outpatient examinations, reports are typically available the same day or the following morning. CD and digital delivery of image data are available on request for an additional fee. Medicover's network of 41 outpatient clinics and 5 hospitals across Romania means follow-up consultations with specialists — cardiologists, oncologists, orthopaedic surgeons, neurologists — can be coordinated within the same network if required.
