Abdomen MRI

MRI of the abdomen at 3 Tesla, covering the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, and abdominal aorta. Provides detailed soft-tissue contrast without ionising radiation, making it suitable for serial monitoring and screening in patients who want to avoid CT radiation exposure.

Abdominal MRI at Medicover Hospital evaluates the solid and hollow organs of the upper and mid-abdomen using multiple pulse sequences optimised for each tissue type. The liver assessment includes sequences sensitive to focal lesions (metastases, hepatocellular carcinoma, haemangiomas), diffuse parenchymal disease (steatosis, iron overload), and biliary anatomy. The pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, and kidneys are evaluated for masses, cysts, and structural abnormalities. The 3T field strength is particularly advantageous for abdominal imaging because it improves the detection of small lesions — pancreatic tumours, adrenal adenomas, and renal cell carcinomas can all be identified at earlier stages. Breath-hold and motion-correction techniques built into the Magnetom 3 Neo platform minimise respiratory artefacts that have historically been a limitation of abdominal MRI. Contrast-enhanced studies at 1,450 PLN add dynamic post-gadolinium imaging, which is essential for characterising liver lesions by their enhancement patterns and for staging known malignancies. Recent creatinine and GFR results are required before contrast administration. Pelvis MRI is available at the same base price (1,110 PLN) and is commonly combined with abdominal imaging for a comprehensive assessment of the abdominopelvic cavity.
