MCP offers peripheral blood haematopoietic stem cell collection and long-term cryopreservation — a preventive investment in regenerative medicine. Unlike cord blood, which is available only at birth, peripheral blood stem cells can be collected at any age using a painless, new-technology blood collection method. MCP processes cells in its own laboratory infrastructure before cryopreservation. Stored cells can potentially be used for post-chemotherapy immune reconstruction, neurodegenerative disease therapy, HIV recovery, or other future cellular medicine applications.
Stem cell medicine is shifting from a treatment of last resort to a preventive act. MCP has positioned peripheral blood stem cell banking as part of its prevention platform — the idea being that cells collected before ageing, before oncological treatment, and before immune damage represent a higher-quality biological reserve than cells collected after illness has progressed. Haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are found in peripheral blood in small concentrations. They give rise to all blood cell types — red blood cells, platelets, and all immune cells — making them central to both blood disorders and immune system reconstruction. MCP uses a proprietary collection technology to harvest HSCs from peripheral blood without the need for bone marrow aspiration, which was historically the standard collection method. **Collection procedure:** Patients undergo a pre-collection immune assessment to determine baseline HSC counts and suitability. On the collection day (booked in the Monday–Friday 8:00–17:00 separator session window), blood is processed through a separator device that isolates mononuclear cells including CD34+ HSCs. The procedure is painless and takes approximately 2–4 hours. **Processing:** MCP maintains its own laboratory infrastructure for processing haematopoietic stem cells and immune system cells. Collected cells are counted, viability-tested, and cryopreserved using controlled-rate freezing in cryoprotectant medium. Quality control certificates are issued at each processing step. **Storage and use cases:** Cryopreserved cells are stored at -196°C in liquid nitrogen tanks. The primary clinical applications documented in the medical literature include: - Post-chemotherapy or post-radiotherapy immune system reconstruction - HIV infection recovery (CCR5-Δ32 gene-edited HSC strategies are in clinical trials) - Neurodegenerative diseases — Alzheimer's and Parkinson's (HSC-based therapies in clinical research) - Haematological malignancies requiring autologous stem cell transplant - Immune reconstitution after severe infections or organ damage The earlier in life cells are collected, the less accumulated DNA damage and epigenetic drift they carry — a key argument for collecting in one's 30s or 40s rather than waiting for a diagnosis.
