A specialist programme for patients dealing with chronic or recurrent infections, tick-borne diseases, HIV monitoring, or returning from high-risk travel. MCP evaluates not just the active pathogen but the patient's immune competence — whether the immune system is failing to clear the infection, or whether a genetic susceptibility is increasing recurrence risk. Testing covers viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infection markers alongside a full immune function panel, processed through the clinic's partner accredited labs.
Chronic or recurrent infections — whether viral, bacterial, fungal, or parasitic — are almost always associated with some degree of immune dysfunction. MCP's infectious disease examination was built around this insight, moving beyond a simple pathogen-identification test to deliver a comprehensive assessment of both the infection load and the underlying immune capacity to fight it. The assessment is led by MUDr. Radek Klubal in collaboration with specialist labs. The examination begins with a detailed history covering infection timeline, travel history, tick exposures, sexual health, previous antibiotic or antiviral courses, and response to treatment. A clinical immunological examination follows. Laboratory analysis covers: - **Infection markers**: panels for common viral infections (EBV, CMV, herpes group), bacterial infections, fungal infections, and parasites - **Tick-borne diseases**: Lyme borreliosis serology (Borrelia burgdorferi IgG/IgM), tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) antibodies - **HIV monitoring**: viral load, CD4/CD8 ratio, resistance profiling - **Aggressive influenza strains**: including avian flu surveillance markers for returning travellers - **Full immune function panel**: cellular immunity, humoral immunity, complement, autoimmune markers For patients with unusual infection susceptibility, genetic analysis is available to identify rare primary immunodeficiencies or specific immune-response gene variants. MCP maintains its own laboratory infrastructure for processing haematopoietic stem cells and immune system cells — relevant for patients who may require cellular therapy in the future. The written report identifies the active infection status, assesses immune competence, and recommends a targeted treatment or prevention plan. For HIV-positive patients, ongoing monitoring programs can be arranged. Who benefits: Patients with chronic fatigue post-infection (e.g., post-COVID, post-Borrelia), recurrent UTIs or respiratory infections, returning travellers, immunocompromised patients, and those seeking pre-travel immune risk assessment.
