Benign Skin Lesion / Mole Removal

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Surgical removal of benign skin lesions — moles, fibromas, and similar growths up to 2 cm — performed by a plastic surgeon at MEDICent for 2,000 Kč per lesion. Having a plastic surgeon perform the excision matters where the lesion sits on the face or another visible area: the incision is planned along natural skin tension lines and closed with fine technique to leave the least conspicuous scar possible.

Moles and benign skin growths are usually harmless, but they can catch on clothing, sit in cosmetically prominent locations, or simply bother their owner. Surgical excision is the definitive removal method — the lesion is removed completely in one visit and does not recur at the site. **Why a plastic surgeon:** Anyone can cut out a mole; the difference shows a year later in the scar. A plastic surgeon plans the excision along the skin's natural relaxed tension lines, removes the lesion with a margin of healthy skin, and closes the wound in fine layers with atraumatic technique — the same scar-minimising approach used in aesthetic surgery. On the face, this difference is decisive. **The procedure:** Under local anaesthesia, the lesion is excised with an appropriate margin, the wound closed with fine sutures, and a small dressing applied. The visit takes 20–30 minutes including preparation. Sutures are typically removed after 5–14 days depending on location. **Histology:** Removed tissue can be sent for histological examination — standard good practice that definitively confirms the lesion's benign nature. Any lesion that has recently changed in size, colour, or border should be assessed before removal is planned. **Aftercare:** Keep the wound dry for the first days, avoid stretching the area until sutures are out, and protect the fresh scar from sun for 6–12 months (SPF 50) so it fades to its least visible state.
