Mole Removal & Skin Lesion Excision

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

45 min

Surgical removal of moles, cysts, and skin lesions by a specialist dermatologist with histopathological analysis where indicated. Includes assessment for malignancy.

Medical & Surgical Dermatology Clinic provides surgical mole removal and skin lesion excision performed by Dr Sue-Ann Ho, a consultant dermatologist with over 500 Mohs Micrographic Surgery cases to her name. Procedures range from simple shave excision or punch biopsy for benign lesions to formal elliptical excision with primary closure for larger or clinically suspicious moles. Prior to any removal, Dr Ho conducts a thorough dermoscopic assessment to evaluate lesion morphology, identifying features of concern such as asymmetry, irregular borders, colour variation, or rapid growth that may indicate malignancy. For lesions suspected to be or confirmed as skin cancer, surgical excision with appropriate margins is performed, and the specimen is sent for histopathological analysis to confirm clear margins. The clinic also performs removal of sebaceous cysts, lipomas, dermatofibromas, and other benign skin growths using appropriate surgical techniques under local anaesthesia. Post-operative wound care instructions are provided, and follow-up reviews ensure satisfactory healing. Patients concerned about suspicious or cosmetically bothersome moles are encouraged to seek early specialist assessment — particularly important given Singapore's high UV exposure and the rising incidence of non-melanoma skin cancers in the region.
