Type

Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Surgical removal of moles, skin lesions, lipomas, xanthelasma and other skin formations. At Medica Aesthetica minor lesions are removed by dermatologist prim. MUDr. Zdena Stratilová, while larger or more complex formations are handled by plastic surgeon Doc. MUDr. Jan Válka. Histological analysis of the removed tissue is available, and the appropriate method is chosen after the lesion is examined.

Removal of skin lesions covers a range of procedures to take off moles, other pigmented or raised skin formations, lipomas (benign fatty lumps), xanthelasma (cholesterol deposits around the eyelids) and similar lesions. At Medica Aesthetica the right approach and operator are matched to the lesion: minor or superficial formations are typically removed by dermatologist prim. MUDr. Zdena Stratilová, while larger, deeper or cosmetically sensitive lesions — and those needing careful closure — are removed by plastic surgeon Doc. MUDr. Jan Válka. The process always starts with an examination to assess the lesion and decide whether removal and histology are appropriate. Most removals are minor outpatient procedures performed under local anaesthetic. Depending on the lesion, the doctor may excise it with a scalpel and close the site with sutures, or use another suitable technique; the removed tissue can be sent for histological analysis to confirm its nature, which is recommended for anything atypical. The visit is short and you go home the same day with wound-care instructions. Healing time depends on the size and site of the removal, and the doctor advises on dressing changes, suture removal where needed and how to minimise scarring. The service suits anyone with a mole or skin lesion that is changing, catching on clothing, cosmetically unwanted, or where there is any clinical concern. Because some lesions can be medically significant, an examination — and histology where indicated — is an important part of the care rather than an optional extra.
